Musical Treasures

Dave from Smooth 97.3 The Bay encouraged me, on a few occasions to take a trip and see Ed at Jazz, a vintage music shop in Niceville, FL.  Ed, the owner, and operator greeted me upon my entry and began explaining what he had available in the store.  The store contained 1,000’s of CDs, vinyl, cassettes, and even a few 8-track tapes.  He showed me his selection of t-shirts from various shows and festivals, and for 45-minutes we discussed artists, shows and promotions.

Ed had a story or a bit of history for various items in the shop, along with his experience with various Jazz artists who have visited his stores in the various locations over the 30 plus years he’s had this labor of love.   Jazz is not selling junk; he has a collection of music in superb condition and appropriately priced.  He really piqued my interest when he announced that after the first of the year he offers a 50% off sale.  I’ll be back for that sale!

Ed has spent his life associated with promoting and selling music and when he heard about my trials and navigating the promotion world, he offered to display our promotional material for upcoming shows.  My visit with Ed at Jazz was like the vast majority of people I’ve met in the music and promotional business; they are always willing to offer advice and ask how they can help.  This type of giving nature is the general demeanor of jazz lovers…it’s all about the music and the enjoyment it brings.  I encourage you to stop by Jazz and find some of your favorites from days gone by.
